TO MY ZION FAMILY
I trust that you and your family are well and adhering to the advice from the CDC and other Health Agencies  on the Coronavirus.  These are uncharted and challenging times in our lives.

SEASON OF LENT

Lenten Season 2021  began Wednesday, February 17, 2021 (Ash Wednesday) and ends Saturday, April 3, 2021.  Lent is the Christian season of spiritual preparation before Easter.  During Lent, many Christians observe a time of fasting,  repentance, self-denial and spiritual discipline.  The forty days of Lent (not counting Sundays) replicates Jesus’ forty days of withdrawal to the wilderness following His baptism.  His period of hunger, temptation, prayer, meditation, and suffering gives us opportunity for reflection on his life, death, burial and resurrection.

What will you sacrifice for the Lenten Season???

A Little Known Black History Fact:

PATRICIA E. BATH, M.D.
INVENTOR OF THE CATARACT LASERPHACOPROBE

Patricia E. Bath, M.D. is the inventor of the cataract Laserphacoprobe, which is the medical instrument to remove cataracts from each eye.  In 1975, Dr. Ruth was the first Black female surgeon appointed to UCLA and is credited, along with other Howard University students, for founding the Student Medical Association and was its first president.  Together with associates and colleagues.  Dr. Ruth founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness, and with limited funding provided free vision screening services to underserved communities.

As the first African American female physician/inventor, Dr. Bath, in the early part of her career, devoted herself to the prevention of blindness the world over.

Dr. Bath has four patents on this laser cataract surgery device covering the United States, Canada, Japan, and Europe.
